NPA establishes a Benevolent Fund

Following the sad news of the collapse of Wasps Netball, the Netball Players Association has established a fund to support players in financial hardship arising from the club’s collapse.

The fund will be allocated based on need and to support players who have lost their club salary and have been unable to secure a contract with another NSL club.

The league has amended the regulations to allow former Wasps players to sign for other clubs as a Training Partners, however these opportunities will be limited with all clubs having completed their recruitment in September. The NPA fund will support those players who are struggling due to the sudden and unforeseen change of circumstances which they have encountered.

The Netball Players Association was established in 2018 to provide a voice for players, a support network and to advocate for their well-being and needs. Since then, the association has gone from strength to strength, providing players with contractual advice and support. Our role in establishing a uniform employment contract in the Netball Super League, protected players through the Covid Pandemic, making them eligible for Furlough. Our personal development services and welfare support has been accessed by many members as they navigate the challenges of being professional athletes in a low waged dual career environment and continue to develop themselves on and off the court.

We anticipate that this fund will continue beyond the current situation to provide support for any members in hardship with The NPA Benevolent Fund adding to the services that the NPA offer.

If you would like to donate to the fund, this can be done through our Just Giving page or contact us at info@netballplayersassociation.com
